X6 SP1 - no update of your installed software is required

Post by 5circles »

I have finally got X6 Ultimate installed, after uninstalling the KB2670838 update, only to find that the check for updates doesn't work, and that my support code must have expired just hours ago. When I tried to install the update manually, I get the message "no update of your installed software is required at this time". Here's the history:

Installed X6 several weeks ago, but I've been sick since. The last stage of the installation may have generate something similar to what I ended up with today - blank window - I don't recall. But I got a blue screen every time I started the program.

Finally was able to look at this again. I uninstalled X6, tried installing again with some CCleaner clean up in between. Meanwhile I researched and found the KB2670838 issue, so I uninstalled that, uninstalled X6, then installed again.

At the end of the install, I checked check for updates. PSP showed a blank window for the update check. After going through the same thing a couple of times, it looks like there are two flashes, but the window stays active with nothing in. I closed the window, and then I was able to open PSP. The version is 16.1.0.48 x64.

Then I tried to run the Service Pack from the download. That's when I get the message "no update of your installed software is required at this time", followed by "update failed". Is this an actual problem, or do I have the latest version? I'd expect to see something about the service pack in the about screen. If it isn't up to date, I hope I can persuade Corel support to allow my expired support code.

Thanks

That 1 after the 16 (16.1.0.48) means that SP1 is installed . When and if SP2 comes along it will be 16.2.X.XX.
You may need to install a hotfix if your windows are not resizing along with the image when you roll the mouse wheel. (Edit and in windowed mode) .
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
