bigger file size on smaller video causing freezing problems
Hi I am using video studio pro x6 and keep having a recurring problem. Basically I am working on 2 different videos for 2 different songs. The first one is 6 minutes long with 11 overlays, 11 MP4's and the size of the file is 54358KB. I have no problems working with this video. However, the 2nd video I'm working on is only a minute and a half long with only 4 overlays, 4 MP4's etc and yet for some reason the file is much bigger at 125723 KB and all I'm getting with it is freezing and hesitation when I try to work on it. I can't understand it as everything has been done in the same way for both videos. Why is the smaller video with less in it a bigger file? I'm really confused. Any help please?

Re: bigger file size on smaller video causing freezing probl
The file size is dependent mainly on the format of the video. A video can be exported to hundreds of different "formats" and each can be a different file size depending on the compression and settings used when outputting. For example a 60 minute video when exported to DV avi will be about 14GB in size while the same video when exported to DVD mpeg will be about 4.3GB in size.
Do you know in what format the videos are and how long in time each?

Re: bigger file size on smaller video causing freezing probl
Well he says all the videos are mp4. But of course there are varying mp4 formats for high and standard definition, and the high def ones would normally be significantly larger than the standard def ones. Size will also depend on the bitrate used.
So Mario, could you right click on one of the mp4's in each project. Do so in the VS timeline or library window and NOT in Windows File Explorer/My Computer... They copy ALL the Properties of each file here, please, or take a screen grab of each files Properties box and upload them here. Then we will have a clearer idea of what we are dealing with.

Re: bigger file size on smaller video causing freezing probl
HI Ken, appreciate your help but am having trouble attaching the information you require. Every time I try to screen print the properties box, it captures the whole page and this exceeds the limit allowed for sending. Leave it with me and will get back to you as soon as poss. Thanks.

Have you got a photo editing program? Or even Windows Paint? That way you could cut down the screen print to just the Properties box...

If you need any more information please let me know, really appreciate your help. The computer I'm using is being used solely for this software. Is there anything I can do which would help the smooth running of the software, ie, turn things off/on
