Hoping to get lucky here, is there anyway to automatically sequentially number clips as an overlay on timeline? This is what I was hoping to accomplish:
Filmed a clients son at a pitching session and have 80 total clips, one of each pitch. I would like to number them for him so he can choose which ones he would like on the final edited video.I do have a stopwatch timer video I sometimes use, but this one would be a lot easier if I simply had each clip numbered. Perhaps I need to just do this manually?

No automatic way to number them I'm afraid - if you have a stop watch and you can put up that would be quickest - just ask him what times the clips he wants start.
Otherwise your going to have to number each one individually by adding a title which is just a number on each clip

numbering clips for clients for editing
I may be doing this often so I thought I would ask the regulars for their thoughts. I am doing some videos for college bound athletes and first one is a pitcher. I shot 30 minutes which consisted of about 60 pitches. I simply did a multi edit to eliminate all the stuff between pitches. I now have 60 clips. I need to render a video and upload so client can choose which pitches for the video. My first experiment was to add a timer video file but this had 2 problems, client still had trouble selecting the pitch using the timer and then if I removed a clip, this would alter the remaining clips in proportion with the timer. Then I thought I could manually add a text number to each clip, but this would have same issue each time I delete an unwanted clip.
Anyone have an ideal solution?I think I need a magic want to add numbers to the clips and have them stay throughout editing, but be able to make them vanish when editing is complete

If you had numbered each clip just using a text title number for each clip then surely when you deleted a clip you would also delete it's number and then ripple editing would ensure that all the rest of the clips would retain their same number.

Thanks Brian, I always forget about that ripple button! Another issue solved.
