PSP X6 as Picasa External Editor

Post by Lobalobo »

Past versions of Paint Shop Pro appeared as an external editor in Picasa, either automatically or after selecting Paint Shop Pro as the default JPEG viewer in Windows 8. After upgrading to PSP X6, however, I cannot get Picasa to recognize Paint Shop Pro as an external editor even though it recognizes every other piece of installed software that I've ever used to open a JPEG. This is frustrating and inconvenient (as I use Picasa for most purposes and want to exit to PSP only when doing significant work on an image, then return). The Picasa boards had no answers. Hope someone here does. Thanks in advance.

I can't reproduce your problem in Picasa 3.9. My default program for pictures is IrfanView with it's choice of up to 3 editors, so I used "Choose Program" in Explorer to change the default from IrfanView to X6. Picasa Open in External Editor CTRL+SHIFT+O worked AOK. I switched it back to IrfanView and it does exactly as expected. Also, Right-Click-> Open With shows a list of 4 photo editors including X6 (64 bit) and IrfanView.

Thanks, Andy. But I'm not sure I fully understand your post. I can also get X6 to show up as an external editor in Irfanview. It won't, however, show up as an external editor in Picasa. I have Picasa 3.9 and Windows 8. Do you get it to show up in Picasa? I guess so, which makes my situation strange for sure. Thanks again.
