I tried to install PSPx6 on Windows 7 Professional. The installation appeared to run normally then right at the end reported that the installation had failed because another installation was running so I should try again later. I then discovered that windows Update had started int he background and was applying updates.
Following a reboot I tried re-installing PSPx6 but got a message that no changes had been made and I should run the install later. I tried removing PSPx6 using the programs and Features Control Panel app but it does not appear in the list of installed applications. I tried a shutdown and cold start, same message. I tried disabling all non-essential services using msconfig and rebooting, same message. I tried removing the installation directory (I found a knowledgebase article about removing PSPx5 when the installation fails it doesn't appear in the Programs and Features Control Panel app and figured it was worth a try), same message. I've tried a Safe Mode Install, same message.
I have searched the knowledgebase but couldn't find anything relevant.
Has anyone encountered anything similar? Can anyone suggest where to look/what to try next?
Thanks
Stephen

Re: PSPx6 fails saying another installation in progress
It sounds like the windows update has upset the PSP installation.
In this area there is a thread for the PSPX6 clean tool. Download it and run it. See how you go.
Failing that you may need to do a registry clean of PSP.
