trimmed video won't play X6

trimmed video won't play X6
I have trimmed out 2/3 minutes and then saved as an mp4 file but when I play it, the video freezes after a few seconds and the sound continues. I have used the same process I used to use with X3. Is there something different I have missed with this new version? I also cannot access any help or guides pages. So I just don't understand. It plays ok in the clip preview, but not as a finished video.
