I can't figure out why I'm having this problem, but step 7 on the following tutuorial doesn't work for me:
http://corel.force.com/learn/articles/e ... source=kba
"7. In the Organizer palette, select the images that you want to use and drag them to the Layers palette. Each image is added as a separate layer."
When I do that, the file I'm dragging simply opens as a new file, not a separate layer.
I'm using PSP X5.
Thanks in advance.

They really need to label the directions with which versions support those functions. Otherwise it's just not helpful.
They introduced the layer drag thing in X6 I believe.

Er, no? .... I've done BETA testing for a seriously major NLE company. It can take years for something obvious to be "coughed-up".ep_2014 wrote:Amazing how something so simple . . . .. would be omitted for 5 major versions.
Having jumped from PSP3 via X5 to X6 the Layer management is just about perfect now. What really needs to be done is to get Corel to make the Pick<>MOVE<>Selection GUI to be logical. In fact that whole Left Hand Tool Toolbar needs overhauling. Presently it still suffers with Programmers-Blight, and that's an official, recognised, User Term.

Yes, which illustrates my point. The natural thing to do when working with the organizer pallet is to drag images into your layers. My, wife, who has zero experience with this software had that expectation, and I think if a complete beginner thought of it, why not the developers? (Perhaps they did and it simply took 5 major versions to "get to it").Grazie wrote:Er, no? .... I've done BETA testing for a seriously major NLE company. In any case, it can't be done with the version I'm using and I'll just have to do it the long way - open new image -> select all -> paste as new layer in current project -> close previous image.

Re: Dragging images from the Organizer to layers broken
The Jasc versions of PSP had a similar feature but Corel removed it until X6 came out. You could drag images from the "Browser" (former name for the "Organizer") onto any image open in the workspace and it would be pasted as a new layer. You had to drag them one at a time but it was very easy and quick.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

Actually a shorter method is to drag your images onto the workspace. Then click each title bar in turn and drag that layer thumbnail onto your destination document.ep_2014 wrote: In any case, it can't be done with the version I'm using and I'll just have to do it the long way - open new image -> select all -> paste as new layer in current project -> close previous image.
BTW Select all does not need to be done (as in Photoshop) as the default if you don't select a part is to assume you want all.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

For opening an image as a layer I actually used a script.
