Re: Transitions Help
Welcome to the forums Lee,
I see your Panasonic camcorder records MPEG, using the AVC/H.264 codec, which can be demanding on system resources during playback while editing. You may want to use Smart Proxy files while editing. VS produces a smaller, less demanding video file to use while editing. Once your finished with all your editing, the edits are then applied using your full resolution video files.
Are you wanting to burn a Blu-Ray disc or DVD?

Re: Transitions Help
Hi
Once you have edited the project create a new video file.
Share --Create Video File –is “same as first video clip available”
Assuming the first clip is one of your video files?
View the properties in the lower panel, copy and paste to the forum, then save to render.
That will render the project to the same settings as your video retaining the original quality.
You should be able to play that to test quality, maybe transfer to USB stick to play on TV/DVD player, (you may need to re-name the extension to use (Mpg rather than MTS) You may however require a Bluray Player to play those types.
From a new project -- Use that file to burn a HD disc, you will need a Bluray Burner to do that.
But you can create a Disc Image that will contain the menu structure, that will test the burner process and save you creating those coasters.
There is an option to burn a Hybrid Disc, that’s a Standard DVD disc holding the AVCHD video, (40 min total approx)burn with your normal burner, but playback needs Bluray Player.
Otherwise down convert to Standard Definition Mpeg2 to burn a DVD
Smart Proxy files do take a while to create, but it does seem as though you need those, a small icon will show on the thumbnails when the proxy files have been created.
Also view Settings Smart Proxy File Manager and Queue manager for the list of files.
Hope that helps a little.

Re: Transitions Help
Hi Lee
Your best option is to use Same as First clip. That will use the original properties.
You can increase the data rate kbps but would only increase the file size with little or no impact on quality.
Once you have created the MTS video file you can use that to burn a Disc,
First play the movie to check the quality.
Then…
Start a new project --- nothing in the timeline---Share Create disc – Bluray opens the burner module.
Top left for Insert Media Insert Video file—browse for the file made above.
I would opt for creating Bluray Folders, then play via a USB using the Bluray Player
If the quality is ok then burn a disc.
Playing the folder on the pc is possible but needs the correct players to view the menu structures, I know of three media players that will do the job.
Corel WinDVD pro
Total Media Theatre
DVD Fab Media Player
