PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate 32bit or 64bit

Post by Phil47 »

On November 12th, 2013 I purchased what I thought was X6 Ultimate 64bit but I have my doubts.
It cost me AU$64.98 and two days later I got an email saying it was now on November Savings Event special for $44 Upgrade.

Anyway, I thought I purchased the 64bit version - the one with the beach scene and the guy with the tripod. I couldn't have been deceived here could I?
Why am I doubtful? Because the quick launch icon says clearly "32". Well, any fool would think it should say "64" wouldn't they! Maybe not if it is Corel.

When I open X6 it opens with the same guy on the beach with the tripod. Is that 32bit or 64bit?

How can I tell?

Does Corel not want me to know?
Tell the truth....but gently.

Hi Phil,
I installed that on XP which is a 32 bit program. I did not have any alternative and the 32 bit version of X^ was installed.

When I installed it on Windows 7 64 bit it gave me the option of installing 32 bit X6, 64 bit X6, or both . I accepted both.

Is your version of Vista 32 bit or 64 bit? You can check using info on this page but becareful of all the adds.

Two things about the 64-bit version:-

The executable is in "Program Files" in a folder "Corel PaintShop Pro X6 (64-bit)" - as opposed to "Program Files (x86)"

When you launch the program and look at Help About it says "Corel PaintShop Pro 16.1.0.48 x64"

Tadjio, Thanks. When I went to Help and then About, all it came up with was "Corel PaintShop Pro 16.1.0.48."

I think I found out after I asked the question here that I only have Vista Home Premium 32 bit so it appears that I have only got the 32 bit version of PSP X6 installed..

But aren't the prices for 32 bit and 64 bit different? I understood I was paying for 64 bit.

Paul, Thanks for that. I checked the link's suggestions and find I have the 32 bit version.

From what I gather you get both 64 and 32 bit versions in the same box for the same price. You happen to not be able to take advantage of the 64 bit version at this time.

You can also install both the 32 and 64 bit versions on the same computer, though I think only one will open at a time. But if you do so, then you can use the 64 bit version for things that don't depend on 32 bit plug-ins. And for those things that require the latter, you can always switch to the 32 bit version.
