MSP7 capture audio driving me nuts

Post by mistergee »

Capture 7 is for me very hit or miss at best. But, when it does work, and the AVI file is imported into the MSP editor all I get from the sound track is very loud noise. If I drop in a second audio track then the noise dissapears from that portion where there are 2 tracks .
If I capture with Vegas and import into MSP7 then all is OK

Camera is Panasonic DVC30

Any suggestions?

As a guess, are you using 32000 Hz sampling audio at 16 bits? If so, you should change it to 48000 Hz sampling, which is the standard stereo for DV. If you must have 4 track, reduce it to 12 bits. 32000 Hz/16 bits is non-standard and can cause a host of problems.

If it is not this, please explain how you are capturing in full detail, your hardware/OS etc.

Try a different DV Type when you capture.
My old Digital 8 has no audio when using DV Type 1 but captures okay with DV Type 2.
My new miniDV cams favor DV Type 1. If I try to capture in Type 2, I get staticky audio, which is what it sounds like you are experiencing.
