Why does PSP lose my transparency?

I'm trying to resize several hundred PNG files (with transparency) from 1000 x 960 to 50 x50. But using this script in Batch mode is so far unsuccessful. Hopefully this is self-explanatory:

OK thanks, I think I've sorted this myself. I found that if I added a Save to the script itself (which I hadn't thought possible?) and used the Obey Script optiion in the Batch dialog, then my image was resized and then saved with its transparency.

I'd still appreciate learning why the Overwrite option didn't do the same?
