I have been trying to render/Create Video File AVCHD 1920x1080 50p but the program X5 ultimate crashes. The original files are Pal HDMV 50fps 1920x1080 and came from my Canon HF G30 camcorder.
I have previously rendered similar files from the same camera only a couple of days ago.
The same project can be rendered to AVCHD 1920x1080P and to HDV without problem.
When the render crashes it suggests I send a dump file to Corel but as I do not have a support contract I would rather not "waste" the money as I get the feeling dealing with Corel on this may be a little fraught.
I examined the windows event log which reports faulty module H264VEncHP.dll. I am running windows 7 64bit.
Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated
Regards
Paul

Re: Faulty Module H264VEncHP.dll
What is the frame rate of the AVCHD 1920x1080P which you can successfully render to?The same project can be rendered to AVCHD 1920x1080P and to HDV without problem.
It seems strange, though, that that module can successfully render to at least one form of AVCHD but not another.
Can we also assume that under Preferences, 'Enable 50/60P editing' is ticked?
I don't have VS X5 on this computer, and my memory is a little vague, but do you have the option Share > Create Video File > Same As First Clip as an active option?
And instead of suggesting a full reinstall to try to correct the faulty module, have you considered doing a system restore to a point when you previously successfully rendered these files?

Re: Faulty Module H264VEncHP.dll
Dear Ken
Firstly thank you for responding so quickly.
The frame rate for the 1080P rendered movie is 25fps.
Enable 60/50p editing is, much to my surprise as I thought it was ticked,is not ticked!!
The create video--same as first clip is active.
I had thought to go to a restore point but I thought I'd ask for ideas first in case somebody had a different suggestion.
In the meantime I thought of something myself that seems to have worked. I down loaded the trial of VS X6 and copied the H264VEncHP.dll from that to my VS X5 (having renamed as old the VS X5 existing module and was able to render my project as 1920x1080 50p without causing VS X5 to crash..
Thanks again for your help and apologies for "wasting" your time but I only thought of copying the module from VS X6 after I had posted.
Regards

Re: Faulty Module H264VEncHP.dll
Dear Ken
Seems that it 60p/50p enabled option has to be ticked each time otherwise it "unticks" itself. The manual says that this selecting this prevents truncation. Whilst I understand what truncated means as a word I do not understand how "truncated" or not would relate to video editing.
Perhaps if you have a dull moment you or somebody else could offer an "idiots" guide explanation.

Hi Paul,
The idiots guide explanation:
With computers, truncation can occur when a decimal number is typecast as an integer; it is truncated to zero decimal digits because integers cannot store real numbers.
Any the wiser? because to me it's all as clear as mud.

Re: Faulty Module H264VEncHP.dll
It sounds a bit curious to me that ticking that 50/60P box does not stay ticked. It does on my set-up -- both on the computer I am using now, and on another computer on which I have it installed...

Re: Faulty Module H264VEncHP.dll
Curios---very diplomatic. I think I had a senior moment!!!
If I tick the 60p/50p editing option and then save the project it stays ticked. Boy do I feel dumb. Once ticked the 16:9 option is then greyed out.Which I assume is correct.
Perhaps the program crashing was in lieu of truncation (whatever Corel mean by this) as I did not ticked the 60p/50p option.
Thanks for the help.
