Carole,

Can you please list instructions and a link to the software for others who might be experiencing the same issue?

Here is the link to the free programme. It's self explanatory but it does show you on this download page the different modes. I went into "Change the Open with" mode and pressed Add and then chose the Paint Shop Pro X6.exe from the list of programmes and saved. And I then had it added to the list of recommended programmes when right clicking a file in Windows Explorer

I have told Corel that this is a potential problem in the programme for you cannot choose to use Paint Shop Pro X6 merge.exe to open your jpgs in the HDR section and then choose the normal Paint shop Pro X6.exe to open your layered images in the Edit mode. Once you have allocated one .exe it wouldn't let me change it

Regards and thanks to everyone trying to help me on this issue. I hope I can help someone else in return

Hi Caz

The only workaround that I have found is to rename the file extensions to the X6 format. The easiest way is with a "bulk renamer" like Bulk Rename Utility (free) http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php

Once that is done, the file will open in the 32 bit version if that is what you want.
