I have created a roughly 4.5 hour Blu-Ray project in VS6 that finally rendered successfully to Blu-Ray folders. I took all my individual video projects and rendered them to individual files and then added the movies (as opposed to the projects) to the Blu-ray disc project. I was subsequently able to burn it to a BD-R DL via ImgBurn and was happy with the results. I used one of the internal Blu-Ray disc menu templates but disabled motion menus and all songs from the menus. As of today (1/30/2014) VS6 is telling me no updates are available. I know that I have Service Pack 1 installed and I assume it has every available patch and updated because it is saying there are no more to apply.
Now I want to make a PAL version of the same disc.
Like I did with the successful NTSC Blu-Ray version, I did a batch convert of all the individual video projects to video files.
AVCHD Video
1920x1080
Data Rate: 32000kbps
Total Bitrate: 32256kbps
Frame rate: 25fps
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate: 48Khz
The problem I have is that it either errors out in the Disc creation project (render only to Blu-Ray folders, to be specific) either when it gets to the first menu item (which means it has spent 10+ hours processing the videos all over again) OR (at the same place) I got another errors that, unfortunately, I have not written down and have clicked away from. It was vague and said something like, "Got error" or some error with "got" in it. Anyway, while I was going through and checking things I noticed that the Project Settings for the Disc creation projection reflect the following:
MPEG files
24 bits, 19200x1080 29.97fps
(HDMV-NTSC) 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max 35000kbps)
Audio data rate: 384kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48KHz 2/9(L,R)
It will not let me change the fps to 25, the audio data rate to 256 and, frankly, I don't understand why it changed it in the first place. Why is it reflecting NTSC and not PAL, like the videos were rendered? Aarrgghhh! I was hoping it wouldn't have to re-render all the videos inside the Blu-ray project. I do not care if the resulting project cannot fit onto a disc. I will be using BD-Rebuilding to assist with that. I've done it before and was happy with the results. I found another thread that said some of my menus may have overlapping text but I've carefully gone through all the disc menus and verified that is not the case. I know it is fine because the red rectangles that indicate overlap are not showing and I've clicked every box to make sure all is fine in that regard.
Am I doing something wrong? At this point, anything would help.

Re: PAL Blu-Ray error messages and incorrect Project Setting
First off, since your VS is set to process NTSC, then to produce a PAL disc, you have to tell the burning module that. You do so by opening the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen and selecting Disc Template Manager. Then in the dialogue box which appears, change the TV system up in the top left from its default NTSC to PAL/Secam. The close out of that dialogue, and go into the burning module and proceed as you did before. You may need to rebuild the menu, though...
That should resolve your problem, and perhaps also the unspecified error when it reaches the menu since you would have rebuilt a specifically PAL menu...

Re: PAL Blu-Ray error messages and incorrect Project Setting
I have tried changing the Burning Module > Disc Template Manager > TV System to PAL/SECAM and then clicking Blu-ray (1920x1080) and then close. However, I find it odd that if I go back into the Disc Template Manager TV System shows NTSC again. If every time I go into Disc Template Manager it defaults to NTSC because that is my overall system default, that's fine. Otherwise, what is going on there? And, if I subsequently go into Project Settings shouldn't it reflect:
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920x1080 25 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMC-PAL), 16:9
etc. etc.
Instead, I see
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080 29.97fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-NTSC), 16:9
etc. etc.
Because my individual videos are already rendered to 1920x1080 25fps and Do not convert compliant MPEG files is checked, I do not understand why it is saying this is what the videos will be converted to.

Re: PAL Blu-Ray error messages and incorrect Project Setting
I'm not exactly sure what was the ultimate cause of the problem, but I tried reconverting all the videos to AVCHD and then creating the Blu-Ray project from them. The disc project did properly state it was PAL, 1920x1080x, 25fps, and it successfully rendered to Blu-Ray folders.

Re: PAL Blu-Ray error messages and incorrect Project Setting
Hi
The default template in the burner module will reflect the Mpeg project properties used in the edit timeline.
Change the Project Properties to use Pal
Then Share Create Disc – Bluray
The properties shown under the Project Settings Cogwheel should show as Pal
I am installed as Pal but was able to set the burner to use NTSC.
---------------------
Once you created a compatible Bluray file, that should burn to disc without any further rendering, hence the “Do Not Convert Compliant Mpeg files.” would be used.
At least you managed to burn a disc to Pal and that’s what counts.
Oh---why do you need to convert to pal
most if not all players in the UK will play NTSC

And do a significantly better job than the pseudo one that VS does in most cases!lata wrote: Oh---why do you need to convert to palmost if not all players in the UK will play NTSC

Re: PAL Blu-Ray error messages and incorrect Project Setting
Multiple people I have spoken with in the U.K. said I needed to convert Blu-Ray and DVD to PAL for them. I never questioned it. /\shrug/\
