PSP X5 SP3 Fails

Post by wanguy2k »

I saw several other people had this issue, no one answered. I'm trying to update PSP5 to SP3. The files extract, then the program stops because it cannot find the file PSPPRO.MSI in the temp folder. After the update program fails, it deletes the installation files.

I downloaded the stand-alone SP3 and tried it again, same thing. Then I stopped the installation after the extract and it looks like the PSPPRO install file has an MSP, not an MSI extension, which is what the exe is looking for. I'm looking at manually running the MSP through MSIEXEC, but I shouldn't have to, this is either a bug in the installer or a windows problem...

I also tried manually running the MSP files after they were extracted, it says the installation is successful after about 1 second, but when I start PSP and check the version number it's still 15.2.

Anyone?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem using the "in program" updated downloader/installer.
c:\users\me\appdata\local\temp\corel paintshop pro x5\15.0.0.1\setup\ is empty.

So I also tried the stand alone X5 SP3. Same issue.
c:\users\joe\appdata\local\temp\corel paintshop pro x5\15.3\setup\ again is empty.

Now , everytime I start Photopaint I get the Update available alert.

Can someon at Corel please fix this.
It enough to be battling with the many quirky bugs, now my hopes that the update would fix some of these bugs have been dashed!
Looking forward to Corel providing some support for this.

Can someone at Corel please fix this.
Unfortunately, Corel techs seldom visit this forum, and when they rarely do, it is usually in a private capacity. None of us Admin people or Moderators are Corel employees. We are users like you who volunteer our time to help other users.

That being said, though, I have sent a message to a Corel exec who I think is associated with PSP, and drawn his attention to your thread. But I don't have any idea what attention it will receive, particularly since it is about X5 and not the current X6.

Hi There, there are rare cases that the original installer is required when applying patch, but the actual root cause is still unknown (well, Microsoft design 8) ). I assume the PSPX5 you purchased is download version. Then you can try following step:

Get the files with the following command line on the original full build you downloaded:
- PSPX5_PF.exe /extract_all “%CD%”

And then, when the patch installer asking for the msi file, select it from the extracted full build accordingly.

Hopefully it can resolve your update problem.
