Is Dolby Digital 2.0 same as AC-3?

Post by Mr.Disk »

I've purchased the boxed version of VS-9, but don't see AC-3 listed as an audio option in any of the drop down fields during the rendering or burning setup.

I see Dolby 2.0 listed - is that the same as the AC-3 that I've read about here in the forum?

Thanks

Yes.

AC3 is the technical name of Dolby Digital. Actually its the original name of that sound format. Then Dolby Inc. changed it Dolby Digital.

Thank you! Saved me from obsessing whether or not I'm using the right audio format for NTSC.

Be aware, though, that it is only the two track stereo version of AC-3, not 5.1 or anything more sophisticated. You need to buy far more expensive programs if you want to produce AC-3 in 5.1 format...
