Layers and Sub-layers - Vectors in X3

I've created paths in layers, then grouped them. The problem is that now I want to delete some (not all) of those path layers, but I can't even move them outside of the primary vector group... just wants to be put into another vector group. How do I delete these paths without leaving the layer behind? I can delete the path, one freakin' node at a time, but I want to delete the entire layer that PSP made that path in.
