I could use some guidance.
I have PSP X4 running on my desktop. The program from double-click to usable is almost 80 seconds. I am unsure what would be causing this. I just reinstalled after using the cleanup tool to remove all traces. I installed sp1, sp2, and sp3. After all that, no change. I do have a sizable hard drive at 2tb. I also have 1130 font on my computer as well. Not sure what is causing it to drag. It wasn't like this months ago. I have PSP X4 on my laptop and it operates just fine. That computer has a smaller hard drive but the same list of fonts.
Let me know if I can bring more details to the table to help figure this out.

Are you opening in Edit or Manage mode? What is your internet connection like? Do you have lots of extra brushes, picture tubes etc added ? Have you checked in your task manager to see what is using resources as it loads.

Re: PSP X4 takes 70+ seconds to run
Thanks for responding. I have tried opening in each of the modes. no change. It opens fast until I customize anything like making the file-types popup window not show again. secondly, if I don't adjust anything, it opens fast until I reboot the computer and then is starts opening slow....70+ seconds. I have the program installed and up to date on my laptop as well and there it operates perfect!
What I have Tried: I have gutted and reinstalled this program numerous times (with using the Corel PSP X4 cleanup tool). I have repaired Windows by doing an upgrade install over the top of my current Windows just incase something was hashed in the OS. Nothing fixes this. One of the many side effects of the problem is that PSPX4 produces blank (white) popup windows upon closing the program where there would normally be like an ad for new versions of software, instead is a blank box with the word "OK" in the upper left hand corner. Additionally, a white box with "OK" in upper left corner happens when I try to update the program. The only way to clear the box is to press escape OR click the Windows red close button in the upper right corner. If I do that, another pop up appears asking me if I really want to close this.
You should also know that this issue happens no matter what update level I have installed, the original CD version, update 1, 2, or 3. Also, many graphics are missing from some of the little pop up boxes that happen. They shows a box with an x inside wherever a graphic is supposed to appear on smaller sized pop ups (see IMAGE 1). This is all absolutely irritating. Attached is what updating the program looks like in IMAGE 2.
Man, if this was solvable I would be extremely grateful! Please help.

Re: PSP X4 takes 70+ seconds to run
SOLVED.
Stupid me assumed that the Corel Paintshop Pro X4 Cleanup Tool actually removed all things related to the software. There were several GIGS of files (not exaggerating) still left behind in the AppData folder, user folder, ProgramData folder, old messages and update files... and besides all of this, somehow I had 2 Standby.exe services running in startup. Only one was running on my laptop. I deleted all of that and removed both Standby.exe's and voila, I reinstalled and all is good. Everything is working properly. Program start is normal and all popups and such work as they should.
Hoorah!

Re: PSP X4 takes 70+ seconds to run
Congratulations and welcome to the faster?? startup times. Thanks also for providing information on how you solved your problem. That may help others. Others would just leave it and not correspond again, so thanks again.
