Hi
960 x 540 is 16:9 widescreen ratio so your 544 is pretty close so why not use 16:9
1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080
We cannot User Define MP4 frame sizes but can do using Mov.
Mov and MP4 are just containers holding the compressors, originally MP4 was developed from Mov so are very similar.
Try QuickTime Mov using MPEG4 Visual as the compressor.

Hi
Without seeing the actual video I can not say if the quality will be affected, I would expect it to be similar......
You will most likely be changing the compression type and as such alter the bit rate, mov wont give the option of changing the bit rate
There are many compressions to choose from, I only suggested MPEG4 Visual.
You do not give full details of your original video only the frame size???
Have you tried creating new clips using Mov, try a few types to compare time to render against quality.

Hi
I think you are best using MPEG4 rather than AVI. Besides avi is just a container holding the compression data of which there are 800ish type?
If you do Share Create Video File –Mpeg4 – there are three options
Try these two to compare quality and time to convert/render your video clips, then compare the files size in Mb
MPEG-4 AVC (1920x1080)
MPEG-4 AVC (1280x720)

Re: can i make a 960*544 mp4 template
AVCHD 1280 x 720 is also of course mpeg-4, though produced using the h.264 codec and not the various other mpeg-4 codecs. You could also make a Custom template for that, choosing MPEG Transport Stream (*.m2t) as the target format, then on the compression tab choose AVCHD as the format, and on the General tab, set 1280 x 720 as the frame size.
In fact, choosing Share > Create Video File > AVCHD, there is already a 1280 x 720p template, but that will give you 60 fps, whereas your video is 29.97 full frames per second, so that is why I suggest a Custom template.
