Do I need the proxy files I edited with if I wish to render or burn "down the road" ?
Lets say I edit and complete a wedding video in January. When I archive to hard drive, I would like to delete the proxy files to save drive space. If I needed to produce a DVD, Blu ray or video file 6 months from now, do I need the proxy files or are they strictly for the purpose of editing?
Thanks all.
Do I need proxy files once editing is complete?

Hi
No.........
Proxy Files are used for editing and project playback, they are not used when rendering to a video file or burning a disc.
When you say archive if you mean moving the project including files then the proxy files would no longer work.
If you are moving files to save them (backup) you are best to create a Smart Package, this copies all clips used in the project to a single folder making it easy to archive, also includes the VSP project file.
Hope this Helps

They are for editing. Once you finish editing and output a new, full video from your project (Share > Create Video File) and you are happy with it, the SmartProxy files are no longer needed.
