VS9 Video filters not available

Post by Gariza »

I can not make available the Video Filters in the library. I am using XP and if I log on as a different user, the video filters are available but in my original XP profile they are not. Are there any settings to change so this feature is available.

Be sure that you are logged-on with Administrator account to run VS9 well.

If the problems persists, hmmm.... reinstalling I think can solve the problem. Be sure also to install all the donwload components if you have the ESD version.

I am logged as administrator and have also reinstaled the full package. I have also made a restore process to a previous date, but the problem persists. I have installed also a trial version of Ulead Media Studio Pro but it do not generatye problems in other accounts but only in my account. Is there any .ini file to modify (maybe corrupted)?

Missing video filters

Post by biggiantjohn »

I have experienced the same problem after downloading the VS9 30 day trial version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and I am still unable to access filters using my initial XP profile. However, like you, I can use filters when I log in using a different account.

I am very interested in purchasing this software, but I get concerned when problems like this crop up in the first few days of using the trial version. Can anyone out there help with this problem??

This is a solution

I have found a solution on my own:

From an XP user profile that works correctly, look for the file Vfilter.rsf located in C:\Documents and Settings\USERXX\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0 or the location specific to your system, and copy it to the correspondent location of your XP profile, C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0

Thats all you need, remember to make a backup of the original file in case it do not work in your system.

It works

Thanks for the response, it worked perfectly, and I can now use video filters using my original profile.

As I mentioned, I get a little concerned when this kind of thing happens while I'm still trying out new software. So far, I really like the program except for this small problem. Has your experience been positive? Have you run across any other problems like this?

Thanks again for your help.

I recently purchased Ulead Video Studio 9, after downloading the trial version. I have been using the software for about three weeks and suddenly noticed that I hadn't got any video filters showing. The filters were in the vft Folder, but I couldn't use them. I have re-installed Ulead VS 9 several times trying to solve the problem, I had the filters available when I was using the trial version, so I thought I had done something wrong in the installation, and I was about to contact Ulead and ask their advice, when I came upon this item in the Forum.
Gariza, your solution has solved my problem. I followed your instructions and I now have all the filters showing and available for use. May I thank you for your excellent advice.

Hi,
Well, I have the same problem with Video filters as the others. I am using Xp but I am the only one user, no other account, and the video filters are not available.
I have uninstalled (manually) and reinstalled , all the package, but the problem is still there !
Is there someone to help me ? What can I do to resolve this ?

I have looked on the Ulead website, but I haven't found anything.

Thanks.

Krys, I had the same problem. XP, one user who was the Administrator, above fix didn't work. Then I downloaded and installed all the content packs and for some reason the Video Filters became available in VS9. They were already in the right folders on my HD before installing the content packs, but somehow the content packs made them visible in VS9. If you have not installed the content packs, give it a try.

Hi Krys
I was in exactly the same situation as yourself. I was the only user, and I couldn't get the video filters to be available.
As I stated in my previous post I followed Gariza's advice and I now have all the filters showing and available.
Please create a new user on your computer, then access VS9 using the new users profile.
Follow Gariza's advice from then on.
You can delete the new users profile after successfully repairing VS9.

Hi,

At first, thanks for your answers.

I tried to create a new user account and follow Gariza's advice, but I have another problem : I can't find the file named "Application Data" and the following ones.
In "Documents and Settings", when I open the user file that I have created, there is no "Application data" file. Where could it be located ? I've tried to open all the files to find it, but it is nowhere.

Thanks for your help.

Krys wrote I can't find the file named "Application Data"
I think you have got the file hidden.
Goto Tools/Folder Options/View/and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Unselect it again when you have completed.

Hi Altone,

Thanks a lot, you gave me the way to solve the problem. The files were indeed hidden, and I didn't even think about this possibility  , I get so stupid sometime
Then I will try Gariza's advice, hoping it will work...
