Performance

Post by newfielander »

Hi friends need your help once again, I have ProX6 installed on both my PC and laptop, both computers are 64bit, one running windows7pro (PC)and the other running windows8,(Laptop). On the laptop under the editing tab which you can find in the ''Performance'' options under ''Preferences'' I can check ,'' Enable Hardware Decoder acceleration'', actually all the options under the Performance tab I can either check or uncheck, why can't I on my PC? The only one I can check is ,"Enable hardware Encoder acceleration'' thats under File creation. I was hoping to check , Enable Hardware Decoder acceleration, under Editing and file creation, plus Enable Hardware Decoder acceleration optimization. Can anyone help? Thanks

You have to have a graphics/video card that supports hardware encoding/decoding. Presumably your laptop has one but your PC doesn't. I notice that you haven't said what the graphics card is in your Profile. If you go into Device Manager in Windows control panel, it will tell you the full name of the card under Display Adapter.

Unfortunately, if you do a search of the VS site using as target "CUDA hardware acceleration" you will see that a lot of other users have similar problems to you, but there does not seem to be any precise solution. One of the more recent threads found that Corel can only work with earlier versions of CUDA for NVidia cards: see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... on#p280861

From that thread, I am not sure it is a question of the card but the drivers that go with the card since it seems it is only the old version drivers that work... But I have to admit that personally I have no idea how to go about rolling that back with NVidia cards. As you will see from my Profile, I have an AMD card and can set those various acceleration options...

Hi

Did you search the nvidia web site?

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers
http://www.geforce.com/drivers

looking at the geforce site they seem to provide an Auto Detect GPU option.

Hope this helps
