Hi all
I need a screen capture tool and discovered VX6 has this built in as well as a complete video editing suite. I therefore downloaded the trial to give it a test run. Install was swift and easy and it runs like a dream, but I cannot for the life of me get a good picture from screen capture.
All fonts whether the OS (Windows 7 HP) or fonts in an application are distorted and blurry. Even large images I'm capturing are blurry. I've tried different settings, playing with 512MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 210 graphics card but still no joy.
I was starting to think I needed a more expensive package like Camtasia to get the high quality but
1 - I've seen other videos on the web of VX6 SC in action and
2 - I installed the free Camstudio and it worked without any issue. I got really clear, full screen capture with Camstudio without changing a thing.
I'm sure it's not a limitation of the trial version as it says full version for 30 days.
Is there any extended screen capture documentation other than the user guide ?
Many thanks
Dean

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: VX6 trial & Poor Screen Capture Quality
Hi
First there is no limitations when using the trial version.
The Screen Capture has the option of choosing a frame rate, default to 15fps but you can set 30fps which should improve quality.
The resolution of the captured video will depend on your screens resolution
Playing the video in clip mode from the library should be good, Project Playback may not be as good.
Is the quality acceptable if you play using Windows Media Player?

Re: VX6 trial & Poor Screen Capture Quality
Hi Lata
Thanks for the quick reply.
I've tried all frame rates and there was no real difference between 15 and 30, still blurry. I'm running at 30 by default now.
My native / recommended monitor resolution is 1440 x 900. If I change my display setttings to anything other than this my desktop icond become huge and the text on icons is all distorted. Is my resolution of 1440 x 900 compatible or should be looking for a differnet monitor? Been menaing to get a bigger 24" with 1920 x 1080.
My current monitor is also connected via VGA. Would there somehow be a difference using a DVI / HDMI monitor? I assume that the monitor is just for my refernce and that screen capture is copying straight from the graphics card?
Thanks again

Re: VX6 trial & Poor Screen Capture Quality
Hi
As far as I know the screen capture takes detail from the screen, that is a screen dump.
If you capture a smaller window then the video would use smaller dimensions, but it may well take details direct from the graphics card even so the largest clip you will capture is 1440 x 900.
Right click a captured clip and select properties, that should show the frame size.
I did a test screen capture of your forum post and is clear enough to read when played in Clip Playback or WMP.
Not sure what the quality would be on a large HD TV
My screen is 1680 x 1050 the maximum I can go to, if I needed full HD at 1920 x 1080 then I would have to upgrade the screen.
