Long Story Short, I can not re-install VSP on my computer!
I know I did something wrong, but re-installing should not be this difficult?
Less said the better about support!
The last tech I spoke with gave me a link to download a new copy but
I got the same error message. Just one of many errors and they vary based
on what part I have screwed up to that part.
I know from trying to uninstall and re-install I have corrupted or deleted
some necessary files. I went on line and got a complicated uninstall
procedure that required going through the registry but after trying that, it
still would not re-install?
I am sure when it tries to re-install it is finding something that is stopping the
procedure or is not finding something that will allow the re-install to finish?
I would like to try to re-install it one more time to see if I can get it to work
but it is no big deal because due to the lack of support for a neophyte like
myself, I think I will return it and just use the Windows program.
In the event there is a procedure that is fairly straight forward to delete any
files that are stopping the install or a way to add any missing files that are
preventing the re-install, I would try that? I have the original disks and the
download program I was directed to download if that would help?
Thanks in advance

Re: Re-Install Video Studio Pro X6
To ensure a clean re-install you need to remove a number of files from your registry manually - unfortunately Corel do not seem to have issued a guide to manually unistalling X6 - the latest guide is for X5 - you can try working though that - the guide can be found on the Corel Knowledge base here :-

Re: Re-Install Video Studio Pro X6
Hi Brian / jchesco
The Knowledge Base is not the best for searches sometimes not showing the info required, but I found the info for uninstall of X6 by searching for “clean”.
Removal Instructions for Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
When installing VS setup files are extracted and saved to the hard drive.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 Setup Files
Just in case there is a problem with the first setup files
Delete this or rename will allow the files to be extracted again, I am not sure if the extraction process overwrites the original files?
There have also been some issues regarding browser plugins, Browser tool bars, Browser Protect, Babylon etc
Do a search of the knowledge Base.
hope this helps

Re: Re-Install Video Studio Pro X6
I am also unable to install Video Studio Pro X6. I unfortunately uninstalled X5 and cannot find the installation software for that version. I followed all the instructions mentioned in this thread and have even deleted every reference to Corel in the registry. When I try to install, the installation folder is created but NOTHING HAPPENS, even when I manually click SETUP.EXE. A fix would be very much appreciated.

Hi
Are you installing from a disc or download file?
Have you tried running the setup as administrator?
Have you tried running in safe mode, from Knowledge Base…….

I am installing from a download. Tried safe mode and "run as administrator". Still no luck. Have been using Video Studio for many years and this is the first time I have had problems like this. Also ran check disk and that did not work either.

Re: Re-Install Video Studio Pro X6
The only other thing I can think of would be to create a new Windows Profile, log-into that and try installing in that. If it works, you can later uninstall the Profile, and VS should still work under your old Profile.
