Pro X6 Manage View folders are closed.

Post by kalidor »

When I start Paint Shop Pro X6 in Manage View I have to each time open My computer folder and work down to find My Pictures.
This was not always the case and has only started happening recently. I have been into the settings to make sure that Manage
is the screen that opens first. I tried last view but this didn't help. Any ideas?

I'm aware that there are others who have had this problem and I don't know if anyone has found a solution - Tadjio?

One way to make your life easier would be to put the folders you use most often in Collections. That way you will have a much shorter path to the folder you want.

In my case with X6 32 on an XP SP3 machne. If I select a folder on the desktop , that folder is remembered and whenever I switch to Manage mode (Whether opening in Manage mode or Opening in Edit mode - my preference and switching to Manage mode) . JUst as well a My Pictures has so many images in it that I would be searching for some time.
I find it easier and safer to place copies any images I want to work on in a desktop folder.

Yes, I have the same problem regarding folders in "My Computer" ("This PC").
I am using the PSP X6 64-bit version on Windows 8.1

I too find it works OK for Collections and also for any folder within Desktop.
I think there must be a bug to do with navigating within "This PC" but there again, PSP X5 SP3 works OK on the same PC.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have put My Pictures in under Collections and that worked fine.
Must be a software problem as suggested. :D

Just to confirm, what version of Windows and what version of PSP X6 (64-bit or 32-bit) are you using?

Have you tested the problem in both 64-bit and 32-bit versions?

I'm using Windows 7 home. 64bit and also using PaintShop Pro X6 64bit. I haven't tried it with the 32bit.
But at the moment I am happy with having the Pictures in Collection. Thanks for your help.

Please could you do a quick test in 32-bit?
I haven't installed it so I can't.
Just open any nested folder, close PSP and re-open PSP to see if the folder sticks.

Thanks anyway.

I am just curious to see whether there is a pattern with just 64-bit.
You have Windows 7 and I have 8.1 so it's not that.

Anyone able to test out both 64-bit and 32-bit to see if this issue affects both? - MarkZ?

Have just tested with both 32 and 64 bit versions of X6 on Win 7 Laptop and in both cases the My pictures folder was remembered. I do not have the Updates installed - 16.0.0.113
I also changed from one folder in My Pictures to another folder , closed the program both by File > Exit and also the Windows X , and in both cases the last used folder in My pictures was remembered.

I use Win 7 64 bit, and in both the 32 and 64 versions of PSP the program remembers the last used directory whether it is in computer, collections or file/open. Strange bug.
