Hello,
I posted this in the general section previously because I didn't find anything relevant related to this and, because this only occurs with Ubuntu and ASP, I didn't think it could be a bug.
But as I got no answear so far, I consider I may have been wrong. Hence this new try here.
First, let me say I have no problem under Windows : I can select whatever size or media type from within ASP print menu for this printer. A Canon Pixma IP-4950.
Under Ubuntu, OTOH, every other application but ASP works fine after installing CUPS + GUTENPRINT.
ASP seems to be stuck on a list of media that comes from I don't know where, and that doesn't match the one from the printer menu.
Even worse, it totally bypasses whatever settings I apply and always reverts to A4 size. So it prints my 10x15 photos as if they were part of an A4 sheet. And wastes paper and ink.
OK, then I installed Turboprint. A very powerful utility that I might have bought if it worked with ASP.
Because, there again, ASP bypasses the settings within Turboprint.
Could someone be kind enough and explain (or point me to the explanation) where this damned software takes those *** settings from ? And why ?
Regards,
J.-L.

Re: Ubuntu & ASP printing
yes the same problem here - but its no big problem for me.
For quick printing, contact sheets e.g. I print to pdf (print to file) within ASP and then print with Acrobat/turboprint.
Or I make an output for printing within ASP (jpg, tif 16 bit for highest quality) an then print (turboprint - you should buy it if you are printing on linux) with PhotoPrint (linux - pretty good results) or qimage (WIN, even better results - better shadows and highlight, better sharpness ... - but much slower)

Re: Ubuntu & ASP printing
Hello,
Thank-you Hannes. I gave TurboPrint a try, but as written previously ASP bypasses its settings as well.
So, it is not possible to print directly from within ASP under Linux.
I find strange that I didn't find anything related to this using the forum search engine. Noticing this occurs on different Linux distributions, I assume it is an ASP related bug. I'm going to report it to Corel, should they pay attention to it.
Buying TurboPrint was my first intention, and I certainly will as it offers much more options as Ubuntu + CUPS + GutenPrint.
Edit : "monkey"ed. Just wait and see what happens (or not...).
Thanks again,
J.-L.
