New Install Failed to Complete : Error - 9

Post by Mike-Mat »

Just put Win 7 on my media system and tried to install X5.
It seems to almost complete the install, but then says it cant complete it and shows an error 9.

This system is an ASUS MOBO withn an Intel quad core, 8GB or Ram, NVidia FX 9800 card with 1GB.
VS X5 worked on it before, when it had XP/64 on it.
Tried several times. I have all the updates in my system.

Any suggestions.

Error 9 appears to be associated with Apple products, When you installed Win 7 did you remember to install QuickTime.

I just went with the default installation, as I always do. Never had to intentionally install Quick Time. Actually, Didn't know it had to have QT.

So are you suggesting I should download and install QT first and then try the VSX5 install again?

Hi

Video Studio does install QT when installing the main program, although I don’t think you need it installed first, would not harm though, I don’t think VS 5 version provided QT, the only version that did not do that.!

There have been some problems installing Video Studio relating to Internet Browser plug-ins/toolbars, Browser Protect, Babylon etc.
Check your internet browser these and remove them. (search the Knowledge Base)

VS 5 extracts the installation files to the %temp% folder, they should be removed by the installer, but check and delete these before re-installing.

Did the installation fail during the save files/extract files or whilst actually installing the program.?

Or are you installing from Disc, save the disc contents to your hard drive and install from there.

Right click the installation file and Run as Administrator.
