ow do you open an existing DVD men for editing?
In VS 5 I just ran the "share" step & created DVD folders for a project. I saved the project & exited. I went back in wanting to make a couple of tweaks to the menu & when I opened the project I was in the "capture" step. When I went to the "share" step I had to recreate the DVD menus. Is there any way to save a project so that you can go back & edit the DVD menus and behaviors without re-entering everything?

When you exit the DVD creation module you MUST then save the project - if you do that then you should be able to re-open the project and have every thing retained in the DVD creation module.

Just to explain a bit furthere, you must MANUALLY save the project before closing the program. The program itself throws up a message saying it is saving automatically, but we have never been able to work out what it saves let alone where it saves it to. So despite that message, do your own save.

Re: ow do you open an existing DVD men for editing?
When I created my DVD I:
1. opened a new project
2. hit the "share" button
3. added the files that I had generated
4. built the menus
5. generated the dvd
6. hit the close or exit button on the dvd gen screen ... got the message project saved
7. then in Video Studio I saved the project.
When you generate dvd's this way by adding all your files via the share module (i.e. with nothing on the timeline) & you save the project twice (step 6 & 7) as far as I can tell nothing is saved. If you close & open the project it doesn't "remember" anything about your dvd or menus.

Just to confirm your workflow
When I created my DVD I:
1. opened a new project (nothing in the timeline)
2. hit the "share" button ( create disc – DVD — opens the burner module)
3. added the files that I had generated ( Add Media-Add Video Files top left)
4. built the menus
5. generated the dvd
6. hit the close or exit button on the dvd gen screen ... got the message project saved
7. then in Video Studio I saved the project.
Provided you saved the project in step 7 the menu structure should be retained.
When you open the project again there will be an empty timeline.
Share Create Disc – DVD should show as selected with a “tick”
This will open the burner module and should show the previous menu.
Can you double check this process to make sure it does or does-not work.
No need to create the folder or burn a disc simply close after setting the menu………..
I have just run through this process without problems………….
If you are experiencing problems I can only advise that you first try running the program as Administrator.
Run in XP Compatibility mode to see if it works there??
There have been some issues quite a while ago where a file was set as “read only”, that stopped the data being saved (think associated with Make Movie Templates Manager) but I guess would have a similar effect here??
Otherwise re-install the program.
As I say it should work…………….

Trevor,
I'm leaving for a vacation in 2 hours. I'll try this when I come back & report the results.
