Burning 2 Slideshows on 1 DVD

Post by MJ Gatti »

Hi,
I have PictureShow 3. I created 2 separate Slideshows but was not able to burn them both to the same DVD.
I burned each slideshow on individual DVDs and they both only fill up less than 1/3 of the DVD. I got 2 different .mp3 music files from the same folder to play in my larger slideshow by dragging each music file to the photo where I wanted it to begin. So far so good!
Now, Is it possible to burn both slideshows onto the same DVD and, if so, how. Simple steps please.
Otherwise how can you fill up any DVD?
I'll appreciate your help,

You cannot combine two DVDs together. Video discs like VCD and DVD are not multisession like data discs are. That means you cannot add any thing more to it and that the disc you've burned is finalized.

You can combine them into one dvd by using a dvd authoring tool like Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4. Using the "Import DVD Video" function, combine these two projects into one then you can burn it to a new dvd.

Here's a way you can do it in PictureShow.

Start Pictureshow, open your 1st slideshow.
Click on "New Slideshow" icon (just to left of trashcan)
Select "New Photo Slideshow" and add 1 (ONE) picture
Click on "File" and select "Save AS" with a NEW project (file) name.

Now, click on "File" and "Open" your 2nd slide show.
Right click on 1st photo and chose "Select All"
Right click on it again again and select "Copy"

Then, click on "File" and "Open" and chose the new file created above.
Click on the 2nd (bottom) slide show icon on the left. (That will make the one photo you added display on the right.)
Right click anywhere in blank area near the photo and chose "Paste"
All that is left is to delete the single picture and a copy of your 2nd DVD is your second slideshow.

You'll need to make sure the Menu & Slideshow options (Under the Theme tab) are as you desire. Menu options need to be set for EACH menu page, as does Slideshow options for each slideshow.

Thanks, Carl. It sounds complicated but I'll give it a try.

carlnewman's suggestion for combining slideshow projects is applicable if you've saved both slideshow projects in DPS (pictureshow) format. Then once you've finished this, it will be burned on a new disc. You won't be able to burn it to your existing slideshow disc as you originally intended.

I can't save combined slideshows??

Post by melkisadek »

This is about Carl's solution to putting several DPSs together on the same DVD. I followed the process precisely several times with the same results, namely, when I try to save the results, it won't save and all I get is the single slide I added from my "raw" (inedited slide) set.
Should I be able to save the results or did you just burn the combination of slideshows to dvd immediately?

Further suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've got a lot of time invested in making dps files with much editing. I know I can just begin again with the scans and edit them into the kind of project that you are describing, Carl, but I was assuming that wouldn't be necessary. ???
