images in a special directory are not shown

Post by chris- »

Hi,

I did a fresh install, since I had a problem of seeing images in a special directory.
I made a new dir and copyied some NEF from my Nikon there.

I klicked on the directory and I could see the preview counting up to some number. But I do not see any pics there. The filter ist cleared, but what else can I do?

Thanks,
Chris

Here is what I figured out:

I tried ASP 1.2.0.7 and 1.1.1.1. The observations were the same on both versions.
Somehow ASP thought that there are no files in some directory. I do not know anymore, how this occured. Still the Preview counter could be seen for the first time. Even if I copied the files in a new directory, they still were unvisible.

But after I touched the files (changed the metadata of the file, put the save date at the actual time), all the RAW-files appeard by magic.

This happended with my Nikon D7100 images, taken in RAW. JPG images were shown all the time. Weired :?

I guess, this is an error in ASP.

Conclusion: If you do not see on Linux the RAW files from Nikon D7100, close ASP, touch the files, open ASP and if you are lucky all RAW images appear again.

Here is another observation:
I closed ASP. After I delete a file on the command line, ASP started again and ASP went weired.

In detail:
In dir_1 I had a RAW image named 0298.002.NEF. I had the same file in another dir_2 and with ASP I moved per mouse the file from dir_2 to dir_1. But now in ASP both files are named 0298.002.NEF!!

On the command line they are named:
0298.002_1.NEF
0298.002.NEF

I did the same again (now copying). But now i had just one 0298.002.NEF in my directory (proven by command line), but this image was shown twice in ASP!!
As far as I recognize it, if I copy the same image from another dir, i got 2 images and one copy. I do not know, what the meanding of the copy here is.

Perhaps a admin could move this thread to "Bugs & Suggestions"?

Deleted all the images in my dir. But one is left and not possible to delete with ASP!!

On the console there are leftovers:

Code: Select all

{62c5ee24-33ac-d045-9dd4-ae3f3c94eb68}.prv_1.noindex
{bf36bd7e-e7f6-9e43-86ee-33c189c7f596}.prv_1.noindex
CPE_0425.NEF <- my raw image
[code]

Do not know, where the come from.
file says:[code]
{62c5ee24-33ac-d045-9dd4-ae3f3c94eb68}.prv_1.noindex: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01
{bf36bd7e-e7f6-9e43-86ee-33c189c7f596}.prv_1.noindex: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01
Have to delete the last NEF in bash.

So another error!

That all sounds utterly weird.

Are you using the catalog or are trying to handle images in the cache?

Those .noindex files usually never show up in regular image directories.

I use Images in my own file system structure, no catalog.
