Aftershot Pro 1.2.0.7 hangs after Batch Output

Post by chris- »

Hi,

got the newest version. After sending images (44) to the batch output, Aftershot hangs, means no files are processed, but batch can be canceled.

CPU is on 100% for some time, minutes, and drop afterwards to normal value.

The log says:

Code: Select all

191.400: Show message: "1 versions sent to JPEG Full Size batch"
191.401: Application asked to unregister timer 0x59000010 which is not registered in this thread. Fix application.
This is really annoying.

How can unregister timer 0x59000010 be done?

Thanks,
Chris

i have seen something similar and then it went away. one of those bugs i never got a grip on.

anyway, here are some ideas:
do you do extensive downscaling in the batch? like from 24megapixels to small web images?
any strong settings of e.g. wavelet denoise above 50 on the images?

does the batch run with images with default settings?
Bibble since 2004. Aftershot until 2020. From then on darktable.

Yes.

Almost. Just about 35.
does the batch run with images with default settings?
Some are, some are not.

Yes.
so that really might be it. although i suspect some interference with another setting.
try what happens if you make the output settings a little bigger.
i had problems producing 560pix images while 720 and 800 worked. (long side)

Thanks, yes that helped.

I changed the Batch Output to 640x640 max and this worked - almost. Well, I had to cancel the queue once and start again with the left raw files.

But the speed is dead slow. Bibble5 was here much faster. But it didn't support D7100 :(
To convert 12 pics to 640max last for 18(!) minutes!

But that is weired that very small images don't work.

I got lots of

Code: Select all

...
853.489: "BError: type = 1013, "decompressRawData cancelled" in file ../src/NefReader.cpp:2022"
854.536: "BError: type = 1013, "decompressRawData cancelled" in file ../src/NefReader.cpp:2022"

in my AfterShotPro.log file.

I think the plugin "Wavelet Denoise" is not the main reason, but could be an additional delay. I hat a few other pics without Wavelet Denoise. The developed with max 640 is quite faster, 15 raw files in about 5 minutes, but no burner, either.

So if there are some batch output already, the conversion for small images could be done on the console in one second.

Just quick and dirty, but very helpful:

Code: Select all

for i in $(ls -1 *\.jpg); do \
 echo $i; file=`echo $i | sed s/jpg$/g3.jpg/`; \
 convert -quality 70 $i[300x300] $file;\
 mv $file $i;\
done

Here are some of my time measurements on converting:

Description of my sample:
I used 45 raw files. 30 images are done on high iso 1600. 17 of them have "Wavelet Denoise" (nice plugin) heavily used (Luminance: none, Color: Threshold: 35, Detail: 25).

raw -> jpg, full size to full size: 125 sec., with ASP
raw -> jpg, full size to 1024 px: 176 sec., with ASP
raw -> jpg, full size to 640 px: > 3000 sec., canceled after 12 files, with ASP
(some raw files take here very(!) long)

jpg -> jpg, full size to 300 px: 30 sec., Linux tools
(convert with linux imagemagic, bash script above: 30 sec., full size was 6020 px)
jpg -> jpg, 1024 to 300 px: 5 sec., Linux tools

Conclusion: resize to 1024 px works with ASP pretty well, smaller is extraordinary time consuming. So smallest resizes are to 1024 max. If I need smaller, I use the Linux tool convert (imagemagick).
