Workflow - Save as JPEG and delete associated RAW

Post by nagrist »

Hello, first time posting and a new user so apologies if this is a silly question.

In the interest of conserving drive space I tend to retain only a JPEG file of images that I haven't (and don't wish to) adjust.

I would like to batch process images in a folder to (1) save the selected files as JPEGs and then (2) delete the original RAW versions of those files.

Most grateful for any guidance. Thank you.

i'd really advise against automating this.
just output the jpgs as wanted, then flag the raw as "reject" and when you are done with a folder,
filter for rejects and delete by hand.

being a little too self-aware of human error i usually dont even delete but move images to a special folder which i can empty from the operating system's filebrowser when space on the disk gets low.

I strongly recommend you dont do this.

A 3TB disk will cost you £$€120. If you cant afford to get one then a 1TB one will only cost you $£€50.
If you cant afford that then I suggest that you sell the camera and get an cheap p'n's camera or just shoot JPG.
Still learning after all these years!

I see some convenience with fewer storage devices, rather than a financial constraint. Forgoing the RAW version of some files that I have no intention of manipulating isn't really a drawback.

I take the point that retaining control of the process is a safer approach.

Thank you for the input.
