PSP X-5 won't load
I purchased PSP X-5 on Dec. 27, 2012. I installed it on a HP Pavilion g6 laptop. Windows 8 platform. On Dec. 28, 2013, the program won't load. The Manage age will start to initialize, then blink out. Then the Edit page will start to initialize, then blink out. Then I get an error message: "Corel PaintShop Pro X5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Of course, the program doesn't close automatically, I have to go into the Task Manager to close it. No new updates to HP have been installed since Oct. 2013. All 3 service packs for X5 have been installed. Any suggestions on how to get this started again will be appreciated. Seems kind of strange that this would happen almost exactly a year to the date PSP X5 was purchased and installed.

Re: PSP X-5 won't load
Hi Cherylhahn, I'm sorry to hear about this situation on your machine. Actually the situation you met was very strange and we do not have any good idea about that. Here two suggestions that I would like you can give it a trying.
1. Reset PaintShop Pro X5. Please hold "Shift" key and double-click PaintShop Pro X5 icon to launch it. A warning message (see attachment) will pop up to inform you the process will reset your workspace and all setting in PSP. (But it will not reset your database in "Collection"). If you are fine, click OK to complete the process.
2. Uninstall PSP and reinstall PSP again.
Hopefully above two methods can help you to resolve the problem.

Re: PSP X-5 won't load
What I ultimately did was restore my computer to about 3 weeks prior to this happening with Corel, uninstalled PSP X-5 completely (removing all traces), ran disk cleanup and defrag, then reinstalled PSP X5. I moved my plugin file before uninstalling PSP X-5, so putting them back in wasn't a total nightmare.
I think the whole mess may have started with a corrupt temp file (autosave).
Thanks for the tips and support!
