Ubuntu printing problems

Post by FalCT60 »

Hello,

I wish all of you a happy new year, strong health, love, money to buy one's desired hardware and... more often updates from Corel (maybe the most hardly to come event in the list  ).
I'm trying to progress in my way to move to Ubuntu and came to the point which concerns printing.
Not a big problem in theory. Unfortunately, I own a Canon  Pixma IP4950 which first wasn't detected by the system, not even using the PPD from the installation CD or from the latest download from Canon website.
I finally could manage to have it print thanks to Gutenprint/cups and thanks to ubuntu community Howtos, and I thought I finally would be able to get prints from within ASP. It works like a charm under Windows, why wouldn't it be the same under Linux ?
I don't know, but unfortunately it isn't. :( I set the parameters as follow on the desktop : size = 10 x 15 cm, 600 x 600 dpi, high quality photo paper, single-sided.
When I try to print under ASP, it seems to retrieve all the settings but the size, which it always take as A4, doesn't list the same paper sizes as the desktop, and even if I select Custom size and force 100 x 150 mm then apply and click OK, when I come back it has reverted to A4. :(
I'm in my way of getting nuts ! :x
Someone there to help me ? Or, to tell me where I can start digging ?

Thanks in advance,

J.-L.

I forgot to mention that I only have problems within ASP. Other software (Libre Office, text editor, etc.) correctly retrieve my settings.
It seems that ASP is the only software that behaves that way, despites the queue and layout files being OK.
I couldn't find any useful topic so far. :(
Someone to help me ?

Regards,

J.-L.
