Does anybody know if there are plans for dvd movie factory 8 pro or has video studio x6 taken its place?

Many parts of the world were not even able to get version 7 - so it is my guess that Corel are not continuing with DVD MovieFactory - may never be a V8.
I wouldn't say that VideoStudio X6 has taken it's place they have both been existing side by side for many years - but yes you can use VideoStudio to edit videos and create DVD's
