Screen Capture won't start???

Post by Colin Parry »

Hi all.

I have just bought Corel Video Studio X6 and so I am a newbie to this site having just joined.

I have installed the program and enjoying the Voice Detection very much and looking at all the other features it has to offer.

My problem that I am having is that when I click on SCREEN CAPTURE using either method to launch it, the Video Studio 6 program reduces down and I can see my desktop, it stays like that for about 4 seconds then pops back up again???

There is no capture screen box, just my desktop visible. I rebooted the computer and tried again but it still doesn't show the screen capture box.

Anybody got any ideas please??

Many thanks
Colin

Hi Colin

and welcome to the forums

It seems very strange doing that , I don’t understand why?
I don’t think we have had this reported before so may be associated with your pc

Have you installed the service pack for X6
http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=6500001

Can you try running the program as Administrator, right click the icon for options.

This is what I see…………
After starting Screen Capture from the desktop icon.
Video Studio X6 should popup then drop to the Taskbar.
The Screen capture panel should show as image below
The screen Capture area will show as a blue line around the desktop.

H and thank you very much Trevor.

I downloaded the update and installed it, still the same.
I right clicked on the program and ran it as Administrator, still the same.
I also turned on all the monitors just to check it wasn't popping up on another monitor and I couldn't see it, but nothing anywhere.

If I could get it working............ I would record what it was doing to show you HeHe! :D :D :D .......

I have managed to get a full list of my computer which I will put below.
As I have stated, I have four monitors through one graphics card (This is for my flightsim and works perfectly).

Motherboard Name Acer Aspire G7200
CPU Type QuadCore AMD Phenom X4 9750, 2375 MHz (12 x 198)
Motherboard Chipset AMD 790X, AMD K10
Computer Type ACPI x64-based PC
System Memory 8192 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2048 MB)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2048 MB)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2048 MB) All one card
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2048 MB)
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

Many thanks for your help Trevor, it is very much appreciated.
I am hoping to get it working as I want to do some tutorial videos for friends.

Hi Colin

Multiple monitors rings bells………

I think there is an issue using multiple monitors and Screen Capture.

Do a search of the forums and Knowledge Base you may find more info.
I do not know if the issue was sorted by the other users?

You may be best contacting Corel via the free support, hopefully still available as you have just purchased X6.
Also Corel have a Facebook account, asking there seems to be getting replies?

Yes Trevor is remembering correctly - there is a topic here :- http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 7&p=281208& where another user could not start screen capture - they had 3 monitors, disabling one cured the problem.

Thank you very much and sorry for the late reply.

I went to the display settings and tried to turn off a monitor, but it turned three off and left me with one screen.

I then opened Corel Videostudio Pro x6 and went straight to the screen capture to try it.

Great news, it now works so thank you very much.

It will be a bit of a pain going down this route as I have to set all my monitors back up in the right order for the mouse to scroll from left to right ETC but I will only be using it every now and again so i can put up with it.

At least I know it now works and I can use it.

So thank you to everybody that joined in and helped me.

It is very much appreciated.

Hi Colin

Thanks for the feedback and glad you have found a workround to using screen Capture.

Can I urge you to report this to Corel, one of these days they may listen and just maybe fix the monitor conflict.
unfortunately Corel do not visit this forum................

You say you have just purchased so should be able to use the Support option, otherwise facebook.

Anyway good to hear you have it working.
