Weird sync problem on MPEG captured with Hauppauge PVR USB2

Post by Mastiff »

I have captured high quality video with my new PVR USB2 (using WinTV as the capture software), and the audio and video seems to be perfectly in sync. But when I make it into a DVD, there's a delay in video of around 1/10 of a second, just enough to make it look wrong and make me and my wife crazy... This is a constant delay, and it's there from the first scene and all through the movie. I save the project as a DVD folder on my harddisk (using the laptop - a Centrino 1.6 with everything in order, DMA, second partition and all). And the difference is clearly created betwen the original file and that DVD directory, it's not created by burning (which I do on another computer with Nero). I have viewed the directory from ZoomPlayer, and the delay is there, but not in the source.

Program version is DMF3, but I was unable to update it with the two latest patches since the stupid patch programs weren't able to find it (probably because I have int installed to D:\, and not to C:\Program files...), and I have DirectX 9a. The whole process of filling that directory takes around 35-40 minutes, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't transcode/reencode anything, it just adds the chapter breaks and all that stuff. I have the smart stuff selected, so it shouldn't do that anyway, since the MPEG file from the PVR is DVD compatible. Also the advanced settings are correct.

My next attempt will be to make a new partition solely for video editing, without anything else.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Remove DVD MovieFactory 3 from your system, and then install it again, then apply those updates and patches from http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf.htm .

Hope this helps.

Are you using stock video quality setting in WinTV2000? if yes then see below.
Do not used format know as DVD Stream you need make a custom quality setting for Program Stream.
See my web site http://www.shspvr.com/ under How to Use,
2nd option would be to recorder in CBR mode in stead of VBR.
It better if was using a 2nd harddrive in stead of partition one harddrive.
