Install errors

Post by bz6djs »

Hi Guys, I did a review of some of the other installation issues that others have had. Some background:
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro on a Toshiba Qosmio 17" laptop with 16gb ram and quad core processor
Some time back - approx. 2 months ... I pulled down and test corel paintshop x6.
I uninstalled the product before the end of the trial.
I have now come back to the product and purchased it. I had no issue with the trial running (until I uninstalled it intentionally).
Now when I try to install the licensed version (I purchased the video and photoshop software together - video installed no issue and runs) Photoshop gives me an error which is apparently very familiar here on this board....
"You are trying to use a resource on a network drive that is not available".... I have cleaned up all my temp files, rebooted the machine, pointed the machine to the already installed video software (its looking for vc_red.msi on my G: drive) vc_red.msi but nothing works. The error does change when I point it to the video file .. "the file is not a valid installation package".

Not sure where else to look and it appears that Tech Support is now closed until Jan 3... so thought I would ask here to see if anyone has had any success with this issue.

Thanks,
Ron

Resolved the issue. In my case it was asking for a fie called vr_cred.msi and it was looking on drive G:
Once I started the install process I searched the computer for the appropriate file (it will extract the file to a temp folder ... not sure why it was search G:<GUID>)
I found several files on my c: drive as mentioned before but none would work. Once I started the install and when it popped up the window saying it could not find the file ...I searched again and it had put the file into the temp dir... once I pointed the install over to that directory the installation complted.

Hi

I'm Joseph who Product Manager of PaintShop Pro. Your install issue seems like is very interesting and we never got the similar one from others. Since you mentioned you ever installed our "trial" version before licensed version installed and I would like to have your help to execute below of cleanup tool again. After that, please try to install your licensed version for seeing if it can resolve your install problem.

Good luck and Happy New Year!
