This programme was fine when I first bought it, but is now almost completely unusable as it keeps on crashing as soon as I click on a segment of my video clips in a project I am trying to make.
I downloaded SP1 and SP2, but SP1 said it could not determine the version I had while SP2 installed OK but made absolutely no difference whatsoever.
I either get a "terminated unexpectedly error", or a "stopped working, send the dmp to tech support" error.
But there IS no tech support! I just went there and they only offer support for 30 days, unless you pay for a year.
So is this a timed event thing where Corel actually design it to crash after you have ignored 20 spam e-mails about upgrading to X6? Or is there something that can be done to make it work again? X5 does everything I need - there is NOTHING that will induce me to buy X6, nor any other Corel product ever again in my life if this is the quality of limited life span product they sell.
Is there anyone who could tell me what the dmp files says?

As you said the program worked fine initially which means that something has changed in your system or there may be a problem with your source files.
Why not post some information on your project. Is it always the same clip that causes the crash? What are the properties of the problem clips? Where did the clips come from.
The dump file means nothing to anybody here in the forum. Your comment about the "limited life span" is silly

Any project, any clip, any time. It's just unusable now. Any project I start causes the program to stop working and when I resume, clicking on any segment that I have put together causes the program to immediately stop working, so I cannot move segments around in the timeline or anything else. I am running as administrator etc.
I checked for updates and it said updates were available, but when I clicked on Update Now, nothing happened.
I followed the knowledge base article for renaming the 15.0 folder to 15.0_old to restore default settings, launched the program, and nothing happened. The bar never got past 0%.
Two hours later I stopped it and the same error massage came up that the programme had stopped working.
The difference between now and then is that X6 Ultimate is available. Nothing else.
I bought the thing on disk, so I am not downloading 1.5 GB to replace it.
Any other suggestions?

With the disc, you can run a repair. Have you tried that? Just insert the disc as you would when you installed first time. But it should detect the existing installation and ask if you want to repair or uninstall...

You seem to indicate in your last post that you cannot start the program, is this correct?
With the program open/running….
What type of video files are you using?
Right click a clip and select properties , what are they?
Have you installed Quick Time this is required, it is normally installed during VS installation, however I do not think it was provided with X5?

Didn't happen. It just went through the Install Wizard, asked if I wanted to uninstall, I said NO, it said it is not installed properly and I can install it later.

That is correct, when I try to start the program it instantly crashes.
I cannot do that as the program will not start
I just re-installed it VSPx5 and it mentioned QuickTime, but now when I insert the disk it does not, so I have no idea if it was installed.

Apart from resurrecting this thread from 2013, you've also started a new thread entitled "VideoStudio Pro x5 will not start, just crashes instantly" (https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=52570), which has an identical subject. Yes, I didn't remember this thread, I have not been able to use the software since 2013 but decided to reinstall it this evening.
This thread came up in a search after I started the other, but none of the suggestions here worked, and the last two I tried only this evening.
So this thread should be locked now, as there is nothing here of the slightest use or value to anyone.
