VS running slow, laggy, skips, try ths...

Post by sealilly »

My VS X5 had been running great till recently. Everything was slow, skipping and laggy. I tried all the following:

Reboot
Disk Defrag
Reboot
Tried different settings
Reboot
Tried different source files
Reboot
Anti Virus Scan
Reboot
Malware Scan
Reboot

But no luck. Today I finally cured it. I ran a Disk Cleanup on my PC.This not only freed up about 26 gigs total, but completely wiped away my problem and I am now happy once again. Wanted to share for anyone who may experience same issues. Below is the Microsoft article that lead me in the direction...

What you "discovered" is common practice along with a frequent defragment . I do it almost every few days

computer management is a major aid to keeping all programmes running smoothly - around once a week I run a paid for disk clean up and defrag programme - it can take between 1 and 2 hours but I set it going and then leave it but it is well worth the time and money spent on it in the way all programmes crisply function on my computers.

I do the same as Brian with a commercial computer management/cleaning program. Moreover, it allows me to set defragment to run automatically at set periods.

Thanks for the tips guys, can u tell me what these programs are? I do an automatic defrag nightly at 3:00 am, but if I use the Task Scheduler for the Disk Cleanup, it does not do the entire process. I would love something that could do soup to nuts automatically during sleepy time.

I use Ashampoo WinOptimizer 10. Does a range of tasks apart from defrag, and is pretty cheap too...
