Hello,
I just ran into a problem, using Videostudio X5 Ultimate. When i try to import a .PNG-image with a transparent background, but then
the background of the imported image turns black.
However, when i open the same image in an image-viewer, the background actually is transparent.
Does anyone has experience on this?
Kind regards from The Netherlands!
My transparent .PNG background turns black.

Re: My transparent .PNG background turns black.
Hello
i don't know about turning black - many users have complained about it being white and not transparent - the usual reason for that is that the .png does not have a 32bit image depth - to be transparent in VideoStudio make sure your transparent .png's are 32 bit depth.
But also where are you putting the .png - if you are putting it in the top video track then the black preview window background will show through - it needs to be in an overlay track with a video or image in the top track
to test please download and unzip the attachment here and you should then have a transparent .png - put it in an overlay track and see if you can see through it.

Re: My transparent .PNG background turns black.
Thanks for the quick reply. Searching for an answer i did review the image's properties, and it said the image depth is only 8-bit.
I'll try some testing with your supplied file and post the results. Besides, do you have any tip in changing/converting the image depth?
Kind regards.

Re: My transparent .PNG background turns black.
I use a non-Corel photo/image manipulating package which allows me to save images at a variety of bit depths
this short video here will show how I make transparent png's - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-STYhTXDBE

Re: My transparent .PNG background turns black.
In the meanwhile, i've tested the given image concluding it works like a charm. I put it in an overlaytrack with another image in the 'main'-track and
saw right through the meant-to-be-transparent part of the given image.
Right now i use Vectormagic Desktop Edition to add a transparent part to my image. At the end of the wizard of that program i can save the image as .png and when
i check the properties it says it is 32 bit. However, it still comes up in VSx5 with the transparent parts blackened...

Re: My transparent .PNG background turns black.
don't know Vectormagic I'm afraid but it sounds as though your problem lies with how it produces transparent png's - you need to experiment with settings in it - or try another programme.
