How can I remove sound from from .mpg movies

Post by HarryNot Potter »

I have a bundle of .mpg movies with unwanted sound included. Can I remove it?

Background: Took a bunch of ancient 8mm movies to a store and had them put on a CD. They came back in sets of .bup, .ifo, and .vob files. VideoStudio Pro X6 inducted them as .mpg files. VS was recently bought in a box; allowed update after installation. I have no idea how to check the version.

Yes of course you can remove the sound - and replace it with any sound or music of your choice.

Put your mpeg file in the top video track - right click over it and choose "Mute" from the pop-out - that will remove the sound - if you want to then add sound to one of the audio tracks - now you MUST go to "Share >> Create Video File >> DVD >>?? " to render out a new mpeg video without the original sound.

Videostudio X6 currently only has one update pack - to check the version number first click on the round orange icon with the downward pointing arrow up in the top right corner - this will open the corel guide - in the top right corner of that window click on the two little gear wheels - and choose "about Corel Videostudio X6" then another window opens and under the bottom left corner you should see "16.1.0.45" - the 1 tells you that SP1 is installed - a 0 there says it is not.
