sound problem

Post by D-Bar »

Hello All
I just purchased VS9 and as I used to work with (much) older version i do not really encounter that much problems except... when i render my project i get no sound in the MPEG file...
Also when i edit my project sometimes i have sound and sometimes i have not :?
Any idea what the problem could be???
my project properties:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
Thanks for the help

Are you experiencing this problem only when a clip is inserted into the VS timeline?

I have occasionally encountered problems when editing the rubber band on the sound track in VS9. Clips that have sound when played alone, lose it when played back in the whole project. When I reset the sound track, the sound returned. I have not have time to investigate further but I think there is a bug here.

BTW, you might want to consider switching to Dolby sound because it requires less space on the DVD and is reported to be compatible with more DVD players.

Actually, the DVD standard requires that all players play LPCM. PAL players must also play MPEG audio (Dolby is optional). NTSC players must play Dolby (MPEG is optional).

In my (albeit limited) experience, virtually every commercially manufactured DVD uses Dolby sound. I think if you select Dolby you should be pretty safe.

Did your burn to DVD? Render to MPEG-2 file? Or burn to DVD folders?

Where are you trying to play the DVD? In the computer or in the stand-alone DVD player?

I suggest that you burn with Dolby or MPEG (since you are in PAL country) audio.

Also, check the options in the burning process, be sure that the data is set to Video and Audio and not Video only.

Thanks for the input guys!

I was not yet burning on DVD, but only rendering into MPEG file. Then played it on WMP. What I will try: capture the file with sound settings not on LPCM but on mpeg or dolby sound.

I hope it works...
