Too many problems to list
Been awhile since I needed help but I am over flooded now. First I started out trying to capture an hour of video from camcorder, which I have done many times before. As time was winding down I saw that the video had stopped downloading but the sound was still going. I stood and watched and it started downloading again but the view screen was jerky. After it completed part of the scenes were alright and part were jerky. Thought it might be the DV tape so i inserted another. After about 30 minutes a box came up saying Studio had detected a new device and asked if I wanted to capture with it, which stopped my video from downloading and cancelled program. I decided to try on more time so I rebooted pc, started downloading and the video in the viewer is as jerky as it can be but the sound is fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled . Thanks.

Re: Too many problems to list
The problem may have been caused by Microsoft's change to a new Firewire driver. You resolve it by rolling back to a legacy firewire driver. This post will explain how: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 31#p258931

Hi
Also……
Can you confirm you are indeed capturing via Firewire and to DV format, which will create DV-Avi files.
If you are capturing to DVD Mpeg2 Format then you may encounter a Buffer under-run that may temporary pause capture. Just a thought.

Re: Too many problems to list
Could also be a faulty firewire connection, might be a bit loose!

Re: Too many problems to list
I went ahead and downloaded files using Sony Movie Studio, so I know the firewire is plugged in right. Im also set to capture in DV. I have rolled firewire back. Since I have already downloaded I will wait until later to see if the roll back helped. Thanks for all the help, would have responded quicker but I have had trouble opening the site. Thanks again.

Re: Too many problems to list
Hi
Some thoughts…
Transferring from a Mini DV tape requires the tape to have a complete time-code.
A new tape should have its time code set by recording a full hour in one go.
If you record to a new tape then pause/stop recording you may cause a gap between recordings that has no time-code causing the capture to stop, the next capture would start again at 00:00:00:00 time-code.
Certainly there is a problem given that DV-Avi is probably the easiest format to capture, your comments regarding “Studio had detected a new device” would indicate to me that the connection has been terminated
As graham said --Could also be a faulty firewire connection, might be a bit loose!
WinDV is a free program that will transfer the footage as DV- Avi, many on the forum have used this program with great success, it also allows you to name the captured files, which I found useful.
You may like to try it…….

and yes we are all having issues with the forum speed and connections……….

Re: Too many problems to list
Totally and utterly. I can't vouch for Win 8/8.1 but it certainly works with Win 7...

Re: Too many problems to list
I've used it on win8, not so on Win8.1 yet, but that is due to lack of time only.
