Relinking .vsp files

Post by royadavis »

I have created dvds using multiple .vsp files. I am now unable to open these projects. It seems like I have to relink the projects .vsp files. I can see that the file size as if the project includes .vsp files but when I go to "share", "create dvd" nothing is there.

To open a .vsp file you go to "File >> Open Project" and browse to the vsp file and select it.

If you are trying to create another DVD from a previous burn did you manually save the project after leaving the burn module - the "auto save" message as you leave is misleading - you MUST do a "File >> Save" before closing VideoStudio or else the burn module will be empty next time and you will have to "Import" (not relink) the vsp files to the burn module again and re-create your menu.

For many years I have created one DVD from the short videos I have made throughout the year. I have done this by opening up a “new project”, selecting “share”, “create disc”, “DVD”, and then added existing video studio project files. After creating the DVD menu and burning the DVD, I close the burn window and save the project. Here is an example:
2009 Short Movies.VSP 12/14/2009 9:53AM 7,179KB
This size of this file is 7,179KB so I am assuming something is there. When I open the file and then the burn window, as I have successfully done in the past, nothing is there.
The only thing different is that six months ago I changed computers. I relinked all of my .vsp projects successfully. I am only having a problem with projects I have made from multiple .vsp files. I am thinking that since I have moved the individual files making up the above project, the program does not know where to find them, and I know of no way to relink these individual files to the above project. Does this make sense or am I missing something.

Hi Roy

Yes that makes sense…….

First of all you are doing everything correctly, you could of course complete every project by Share Create Video File then add the video files rather than the VSP’s but the process is the same.

Unfortunately there is a problem in retaining the burner module details (menu structure) and opening those on a different PC, even though you have re-linked the individual VSP’s and proved they work on the new pc, the burner module will be empty?

Sorry….As far as I know there is no work-round or fix other that recreating the Burner Module menu structure on the new pc.
Some have tried creating a Smart Package but no go.

Corel have been informed regarding the VSP burner issue so hopefully they will be able to fix.

frustrating I know, been there.......
