Changed Warranty Support

Post by RobertOZ »

Has anyone noticed that the free warranty period has now been reduced from 90 days to 30 days and this allows you to submit ONE question only during this period. For an additional fee of $15 you can extend the warranty period to one year, but this only allows you to ask one additional question.

Extract from Corel

Introducing great new learning and support content???????

We’ve recently updated our assisted support options to better suit your needs.

Every product license comes with a FREE Limited Warranty that includes a complimentary technical support incident for 30 days from your product purchase date. We guarantee to get you up and running or you’ll get your money back.

Extended Warranty

You can get peace of mind for a nominal fee with Extended Warranty Support. This increases the warranty period to one year from the date you purchase the plan and provides you with one additional support case to resolve issues related to:
Product download, installation and activation
Re-download, re-installation and re-activation
Product registration
Serial number

Are they serious? are they trying to drive customers away, to Adobe, CyberLink, Magix etc where support is provided free for an indefinite period, lets face it, Corel are just about at the bottom of the video editing market place and this will only further reduce sales of their products

Pity really, because Video Studio is such a good program

Thanks Robert. I hadn't been aware of this before. And I agree it is sad and silly on Corel's part. Hope they continue to appear on their Facebook page!!!

I experienced a Windows 8.1 crash over the weekend, and had to reinstall everything. So I've now had to pay $20, and I'm sitting waiting in the "priority queue," now, to get some support so I can reactivate my corel products.

This is stupid. I think it's time to sink money into Adobe products, much as I'm loath to learn all the stuff I know in Corel again. But -- I'm not going to go through this waste of time and money to use a product I already purchased.

:-(
