Speed/Time-Lapse

Post by jiggyj2z »

I imported a number of Powerpoint slides into VideoStudio Pro X6 and am now recording voice audio for them. My problem is: I don't know how to stretch each slide's duration to match its audio. By default, all the slides came in with a 3 sec duration. I can increase each to a max of 6 sec, but that's not long enough for my audio.

I've dug around the internet and watched tutorials on Corel's site, but they don't help. Everything I've looked at (even page 60 in the User's Guide for X5) says that to change a photo's duration, double-click it and select "Speed/Time-Lapse" on the Edit screen.

When I double-click a photo, there isn't a "Speed/Time-Lapse" option on my Edit screen (see image). So how am I supposed to change the slide's duration?

Speed/time lapse is not available for still images and it clearly mentions videos on that page in the user guide - not images.

to change the duration of an image just click on a number in that little digital clock in your screen shot and use the up and down arrows to adjust it.

if you have a lot to do first adjust the first one - then right click on it and choose copy attributes - then click on the second one - move to the last one and hold down shift so that all images become selected then right click on all again and this time choose "paste attributes"

You should be able to extend a slides length almost indefinitely - certainly beyond 6 seconds - are these true images you have imported such as bmp's or jpg's - what is their format. also have you enabled ripple editing, you will need to disable it to change image lengths.

Thanks for the response.
I know the information was for videos, but since I didn't see anything separate for images I assumed it was the same.
I did try using the digital timer to increase duration but it tops out at 6 sec for a slide.
The images are jpg format.
I don't know what ripple editing is; can't find it under Tools | Preferences... . How do I enable/disable it?

Hi

( Tip--Double clicking any clip opens the Options Panel below the library)

Double Click the image on the timeline to select it, this shows a yellow bar either side of the clip. (trim handles)
1 / Using the mouse drag the trim handles to increase / decrease the image duration.
2 / With the clip selected set the digital clock to a new duration (Clock immediately below the Photo Tab)
3 / From Preferences (F6) Edit tab you can set the default duration of images, this is applied to images as they are added to the timeline.
4 / Right Click an image or use Shift + Click to select multiple images.
Right click selected image for Change Photo Duration

5 / Click to open the “Sound Mixer” ( wave icon below the preview screen.)
The audio clip should show the wave form which may be useful in setting the image durations

6 / the thin track above the top timeline is a Chapter/Cue Point bar, click that to add a triangle, useful for marking positions on the timeline, far left for +/- and down arrow.

7 / Ripple editing may be useful but can be difficult to understand.
Again far Left the top padlock will activate Ripple Editing, each track then has a padlock.

Thanks. Your reply is very helpful.
I don't see a padlock in regards to Ripple Editing (there are way too many icons scattered about). All Corel Help says about it is "Click Enable/Disable Ripple Editing to activate the panel" without explaining where this option is.
