Vitascene Transitions and X6U

Post by TonyP »

I know Vitascene works with filters, but I see Prodad listed in the Transitions menu, but it is empty.
Is there a way to fix this? Or are Vitascene transitions not a part of X6U.
Thanks.

I had never noticed Vitascene listed in the transitions in X6U before (only in FX), but have now found it. When I inserted it between two video clips, I got the message that it would only operate on VS X4 and X5 unless I wanted to operate it in "read only" mode or had a separate licence for it. As I don't have the latter, I chose the former, and various transitions appeared when I chose Customize. I didn't proceed beyond that point, but at least there was a choice of around 9 transitions.

Curiously, though, I then closed X6 and later re-opened it. This time I did exactly the same thing, but this time I didn't get any request for licences or messages about read-only mode. And when I clicked on Customise, I appeared to get not 9 transitions but 9 groups of transitions (plus a "New" start from scratch group). Each group in turn contained varying transitions. And each appeared to work just fine without limitations. In fact, now that I look at some of them, I find some of them might be quite useful (note that I use mostly just crossfades at most, with only the very occasional use of other transitions when a very special effect is warranted...)

But I guess the basic point is that they are there and work for me

I too am a cut and cross dissolve type of person. But there are times when something different works. Vitascene's transitions are very very good.
But I do not see them listed at all in my Transitions folder. I see proDAD from the drop down menu selection, but when selected, it is empty. I even went back to X5U and they are not there. Maybe because I installed X6U?

Ken, are you saying that selecting transitions, then selecting ProDAD you have a transition showing, because like TonyP my folder is empty.

I have not used Vitascene before, so I continued anyway, placed clip in timeline, selected Vitascene from the fx folder, dragged it onto the video clip, added an effect, saved by clicking F12, to return to VSX6, saved project, then exited. Then I could not launch VSX6 again. I had to shut down and restart the computer before I could launch VSX6 again. I repeated this over and over again and each time VSX6 would not launch after saving and closing.

Any ideas as what might be causing this, Vitascene does state that unless F12 is used to save and return to VSX6 it would cause program issues, so I was particularly careful to ensure I always used F12.

Yes, as I already said above, with video in the timeline and then selecting Transitions > proDAD, I get the VitaScene transition thumbnail as in this image. I drag it between two clips, and then click the Options button to get the Customize tab.
VS Vitascene01.jpg
When I click the Customize button, I get this screen, which, as I have said, presents 9 sets of transitions. Clicking each of the thumbnails opens a screen containing varying numbers of individual transitions for that group.
VS Vitascene02.jpg
In other words, it appears to work for me, but I have no idea why it doesn't for you. But have you tried renaming C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel Video Studio\16.0 to 16.OLD and restarting VS? This will often reset things like this -- though I confess that in the past I have used to to update FX to show things like Boris and proDAD plug-in filters rather than transitions...

Thanks Ken for the pics. I have proDAD listed in the Transitions, but as I said, when I click on it, the folder is empty. I will try later resetting the program and report back on what happens. I also have X4U and X5U on the same computer. X4U has it in Transitions, but not X5.

Well, I went down the uninstall/reinstall track, very bad move, for the first time I had extreme difficulty with the reinstall, normally I could copy and paste folder contents back, but time after time the paste icon was greyed out, even though I had full permission rights, in the end I had to use the move folder option and finally managed to replace the contents. Complete waste of time, the Vitascene transition still does not show under ProDAD, neither does it show under the "All" category.
Because I had carried out a complete uninstall of VSX6, it was necessary to register the product again, Corel automated response, sent me a 30 day free warranty support code, so I used this to contact support, it will be interesting to see what their response is (if any).
Unable to check if it is working with VSX5, that was installed on my laptop, which suffered a graphics card melt down rendering the laptop useless.

Similar thing happened to me -- which is why I can't look at X4. It is on a computer which I think also suffered a GPU meltdown. Anyway, it is currently in a computer shop being looked at...

I deleted the appdata folder and watched X6 rebuild. The proDAD folder is still present in the Transitions, but it is empty. Oh well..... :(

Do Tech Support actually read the support ticket.

I fully explained the issue, that the Vitascene Transition does not show in the ProDAD folder of the Transitions tab, neither is it showing under the "All" category.

Received response today telling me how to use the Vitascene plugin, completely ignoring the fact that I told them that the Vitascene Transition does not display.

So, have again repeated the question to them, suggesting that maybe they had misunderstood the question, uploaded a screen shot of the issue, but have no way of knowing if the upload was successful, it has to be done through Gmail, and whilst Gmail states that the screenshot has been uploaded, there is no indication on the ticket that an attachment has been added.

Considering that under the new warranty period you have only one shot at submitting a ticket and that, within 30 days, before most users would have fully evaluated the program, you would expect support to fully understand the question before sending back a "Canned"response which has no relevance to the question asked.

I will be dropping them a line also. I hope I don't get the stock reply.
I also have Vitascene v2 and tried to install it into X6U with no luck.

Hi Tony,

I thought about a separate purchase of V2, glad I didn't if you were unsuccessful installing it into VSX6.

So far, have spent many hours following all the directions from Tech Support, have uninstalled/reinstalled on numerous occasions as directed by Support but still no Vitascene Transition, am waiting for further instructions, I have asked them where to find the transition (if in fact it has been installed) or where can I obtain the Transition for manual installation, the saga continues.

Still trying to decide whether or not to reinstall VSX5, just to see if the transition shows there.

I also have Vitascene v2 and tried to install it into X6U with no luck.
If you purchased the stand-alone version of Vitascene 2.0, rather than having the plug-in which goes with the installation of VS 16, then I suspect you will find it does not necessarily work with VS. As I understand it, pro-DAD has a separate licence agreement with Corel for the plug-in they provide which is meant to work specifically with VS X6...
