Videostudioo X6 major library import/export bug

Post by Curious »

Hi,

I have recently install videostudio x6 ultimate and i noticed that Newblue Colorfast filter plugin was there at 1st program startup, but disappear hours later, including other video fx filters from Newblue that also went out. I think that it also kill some titles (but i am not sure)

After digging into the problem, i have discovered that the problem was related to the use of the library import/export function!!!

Naturally, i exported my previous library from an older version of videostudio x4 and reimport it in x6 to get all my numerous media in my old x4 media library into x6. Oups! Very Bad idea... -> this get you into big troubles, losing some Newblue filters (colorfast, etc), and probably many other side effects.

After a lot of experiments, i have found the manual workaround below to keep your old media library information from x4 to x6, i.e. to repair the library import mess you got before :!: :

1- Export your current X6 buggy configuration (that is already including the media library info from previous X4 cause it was already imported above) to a backup directory "Export1".

2- Close videostudioo x6

3- Follow the manual reset videostudio to defaults settings procedure:
http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... 000000L7sG

4-Restart videostudio x6 (this will recreate a default clean configuration)

5- Click on Fx button and check that you can see the Newblue colorfast video plugin (or any other video filter that was missing previously before step 3).

6- Click on "Instant Project" button. This will recreate the complete templates database. You will see all default templates and any templates you previously installed. You may also click on transition, titles buttons, etc.

7- Export this current X6 clean configuration (that has no media library info except a few corel samples) to a backup directory "Export2".

8- Recover your old media library information by copying file "VS_AllMediaView.dat" from folder "Export1" to folder "Export2". Keep the exact size in byte of this file for next step (example file "Export1\VS_AllMediaView.dat" is exactly 24566788 bytes): you can use windows explorer to do this (right click properties on the file), keep the file size info and not the size file on disk info.

9- Edit the file "Export2\UVSExport.dat" with notepad and search for the line
"VS_AllMediaView.dat=xxxxx" where xxxxx is the current file size in byte. Replace xxxxx with the file size you get from step 8 above.
In my case it would be:
VS_AllMediaView.dat=24566788
In notepad, save the file.

10 Open videostudiio x6 and do the library import function specifying folder "Export2" for the import.
Et voila! all your previous library media info is there without messing anything with the fx filters, newblue colorfast, different titles, etc :D

N.B. Before doing this procedure, please backup your important information. I am not responsible of any lost you may have in your data following this procedure...

Here some additionnal comments about previous post:

1- When i talked of export/import, i meant library manager import/export feature.

2- At step 3 in previous post, just do the rename directory procedure according to your operating system (the library backup is already included in previous steps).
