Why are my shapes grainy?

Post by Legend »

This happened to me once before in an earlier version of PI and I cannot remember how I fixed it.

I am trying to use the shape tool, but the edges of the shapes are grainy.

For an example check out http://www.accounthotline.com/nt/test.jpg

2d and 3d shapes are grainy. I have increased the resolution to 900 DPI and still no luck. Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks - Larry

Do you have your anti-aliasing turned on? That causes extra pixels to be added in a lighter color which gives the appearance of a nice smooth edge.

This is probably the source of my problem. Can I turn anti aliasing on when I create a canvas? Can you let me know where I can do this?

As an alternative, I was using the shape creator in the easy pallette. This works fine, but I would like to be able to create shapes freehand without having to alter size, color, etc.

To check your anti-alias settings, open a new image, click on the Path Tool, then click on the tool panel that is associated with the Path Tool. It will show you all the tool settings. Click the Options tab... and it's on that screen.

Why your objects are so grainy!

I had exactly the same problem when using PhotoImpact 10. This problem occurs unexpectantly. You will find that this is because you are using the trial version of PhotoImpact. Once you have bought the full version this problem does not occur and it is much more stable. I have PhotoImpact 10 (Full Version), running on Windows XP Professional with service pack 1. My Computer has 256MB memory using a 2.00 Ghz AMD Athlon.
